Aaron Gilman elected to the Board of Directors; four new members elected to Board of Overseers

Annual Meeting

(L to R) Citi Performing Arts Center’s newly elected Chairman of the Board Paul Guzzi with former Chair Bill Poduska (2004 – 2008) and outgoing Chair Scott Sperling (2008 – 2015) at the Annual Meeting of the Corporation at the Citi Shubert Theatre, June 10, 2015.

Elliot M. Surkin, Clerk of the of the Citi Performing Arts Center Board of Directors, announced this evening the election of Paul Guzzi as Chairman during the Annual Meeting of the Corporation that took place at the Citi Shubert Theatre. Guzzi, longtime and now retired President & CEO of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce, takes over for outgoing chairman, Scott Sperling, co-president of Thomas H. Lee Partners. Sperling will remain on the Board.

In addition to Guzzi’s appointment and re-electing members of the Board of Directors and Board of Overseers (listed below), Aaron Gilman, a partner with the law firm Hinkley Allen, was elected to serve his first three year term as a member of the Board of Directors. New members of the Board of Overseers include: Ryan Jimenez, Director of Public Relations, Four Seasons Hotel Boston; Priscilla Rojas, Audit Senior Manager, John Hancock; Gail Sobha, Marketing & Business Development Manager, Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP; and, Rob Williams, Market Manager, Greater Media Boston.

The meeting also included a report by President & CEO Josiah A. Spaulding Jr. during which he spoke about programming (focusing on broad-based popular arts & entertainment), arts education (City Spotlights Leadership Program and ArtWeek), preservation of Citi Center’s historic theaters (close to $9M invested since 2008), and financial stability (establishing operating reserves). “Eight years ago, Scott Sperling outlined an aggressive set of goals for us to achieve, and we hit the mark on every one of them. This speaks volumes about his vision and his leadership,” said Spaulding. “With Paul Guzzi now serving as Chairman, we’ve come full circle with both those original goals impressed upon us by Dr. An Wang and building on what Scott has in recent years helped us to accomplish.”
