A New Role this Summer

This summer has been a great learning experience for me, since this is the first year I’m a Junior Assistant. Before starting the job, I had many doubts about it, such as if the teens were even going to like me or even respect me since I am close in age with them. But I was excited to be helping the Acting Specialty since I enjoy acting so much.
Though I came in the third day of the program, I was full of excitement to see all the new teens. When I came into the Shubert Theater there were so many new faces and some old faces. Two weeks into the program, the teens were getting their flash mob down and getting ready for Tour Week.
Tour week began and everybody was full of energy. Even though it was only the first day, I knew this energy would decrease as the week progressed, as I had experienced something similar last year. I saw and heard the group of teens I was with, and though during the workshops, sometimes the participants were difficult, the Teen Leaders handled it well.
For the Final Showcase, everybody was nervous but excited. I was excited to see how it was all put together. I was in the audience with some friends I invited. My friends were blown away by how talented these teens are. I was so very proud of them and honestly, I thought this show was better than last year.
Hopefully next summer I can become a Junior Assistant again. If not I’ll just visit and come to the Final Showcase.
