An Amazing Tour Week

Where do I start? Tour week was filled with point exhilarating performances, unexpected pop up shows, and educational workshops. I had the pleasure to travel with all tour groups and watch their workshops develop from the blueprints to the final product. The teens worked intensely until they came back and their purple shirts were soaked from sweat. Each workshop group created their thesis around one of the four "-isms"(Racism, Sexism, Ableism and Classism). I enjoyed when teens who usually step up during the program allowed other teens to use their voice and to advocate towards their given topic. I recall my years of tour week when you are exhausted and you don't want to move anymore, but then you see that one or a couple of people that appreciate your talents and your message. At the end of the day, the teens were able to feel appreciated for their work which made this week more accomplishable. A teen leader once told me "I didn't think I was able to teach younger kids but after this day I feel even stronger in using my voice more often." Tour week serves its purpose on developing the young teen’s mindset into teachers, advocates, leaders, followers and learners.
