Explorations in Empathy

Posted 30 January 2018 12:00 AM by Pascale Florestal

It is so great to be at the Tobin School for the Spring 2018 semester! Mr. Michael and I started working with Ms. Skidor’s third grade class just three weeks ago. In our short time together we have been able to explore drama games and music-making. We created body percussion songs and this week, Mr. Michael taught us about solfege. Mr. Michael was also able to bring some instruments to class to show the students and we were even able to sing This Land is your Land while Mr. Michael accompanied us on his guitar. For this residency we will be exploring the theme of empathy and what it means to put yourself in another’s shoes. Next week we’ll be reading the book The Journey by Francesca Sanna to help inspire our creation and performance about empathy!
