About the Show

Boston Comedy Blowout returns to the Boch Center Shubert Theatre on November 11!

Featured comedians include Lenny Clarke, Steve Sweeney, Mike Donovan, Kelly MacFarland, and Corey Rodrigues.

Lenny Clarke:
Veteran Boston stand-up comedian Lenny Clarke has an oddly calibrated act — his material and his perspective is very much in an old-school Don Rickles vein, but his attitude is very much that of a quick-witted young comic. This contrast comes wrapped in a conversational, deceptively genial delivery, with just brief moments of clowning. Clarke is also unpredictable in a very good way on stage — you don’t know where he’s going to go next. It’s never the same show twice. He’s a unique and funny performer … truly worth catching. — NYC Review

Steve Sweeney:
Born in Charlestown, Steve Sweeney is a legendary Boston comedian known as a master of dialects and character voices. With his famous Boston accent and great insight into human nature, Steve is so thoroughly Bostonian that he merits his own stop on the MBTA Green Line.
Steve learned his craft at the world famous Ding Ho Comedy Club, where he performed with Lenny Clarke, Denis Leary, Jay Leno, and more. Well-rounded and seasoned, Steve has kept audiences laughing for years. He won his status, the old-fashioned way – he earned it!
He has been a featured on major television shows including David Letterman, Evening at the Improv, Comics Come Home, and Comedy Central, and starred in his own Boston-based sitcom, Park Street Under.
Steve’s trademark political satire has earned him top host spots on Boston radio stations 100.7FM WZLX (Sweeney’s Neighborhood) and 95.9FM WATD (Jay Mohr and Opie & Anthony.) In addition, Steve is an elite Master of Ceremonies selected by many charitable and political organizations (of both parties, but separately, of course!)
Steve is a successful actor and has appeared in many Hollywood films, which include: Equalizer [2014], Me, Myself & Irene [2000], There’s Something About Mary [1998], Next Stop Wonderland [1998], Southie [1998], Celtic Pride [1996], and Back to School [1986].
Steve lives just outside his hometown of Boston and when not working loves to spend quiet time with his dog and friends.

Corey Rodrigues:
For the past few years, Corey Rodrigues has been racking up comedy competition victories around New England. Once you see him on stage you'll see why. Corey's conversational storytelling tone puts audience members at ease and then, when their guard is down, he pummels them with punch lines. Rodrigues combines comedy from his own life and the lives of those around him. Mix that with a hilarious point of view and he's able to talk about anything.
Within his first year of performing stand-up, he led his own show at Boston's well-known Beantown Comedy Vault where he started Wicked Wednesdays. In 2008 he was the winner of the Catch a New Rising Star comedy competition. In 2009 he was a semi-finalist in the New York Comedy Contest. He played a major role in R&B singer Samsonís music video, appeared in a pair of Sam Adams Commercials and a variety of cable television shows. In 2010 and 11 Corey was a semi-finalist in the Boston Comedy Festival and was the winner of The Funniest Comic in New England Contest.
He has been entertaining since childhood. Growing up in Milton - a small suburb in Massachusetts - and spending a lot of time in the city at his familyís barbershop businesses allowed Corey to bring a diverse voice to the stage. Since a very early age he's had the ability to impersonate many different voices. He often left family members in tears at gatherings. It wasn't rare for him to startle his childhood classmates by imitating a teacher or principal's voice in the hallways.
Corey made a quick transition from class clown to professional headliner out his ìno holds barredî training provided by Bostonís Improv Asylum. From there he became a part of his own short form improv troupe, Flaming Awesome. Referred to as funny, endearing, edgy, quick and exceptionally likeable when he is on the stage, Corey owns the crowd.
