Week 3 of the program was one filled with trials and many tearful successes. The teens wrapped up their State House presentation, and they felt the pressure as the date approached. Nonetheless, when the going got tough, the teens demonstrated their amazing talent and serious during the rehearsal sessions, and each of the speakers fluidly executed their parts in the presentation. Tiaira, especially, showed extreme dedication and perseverance as she said her part, showing to us that she is able to do her job to the fullest when she steps up to the plate.
Then, Thursday approached. It was an amazing sight to see all the Teen Leaders get so serious in their presentation. As a former participant, I could help but feel nostalgic as I watched them speak and sing. I was especially proud of my younger brother, Clark, showing his professionalism and seriousness as he did the closing. All in all, it was a momentous and proud experience for staff and participant alike. The teens also presented for the Senate President, Stan Rosenberg, and Janayah was able to flawlessly answer his question about the table was in the Reading Room (hint: it represents the original 13 colonies)! It really was such a blessing for them to know that their words will echo throughout time and history.
They should give themselves a pat on the back for their hard work and the work they will accomplish in the future. It was all simply wonderful, and I look forward to seeing more of the growth as both leaders and individuals.
