(Boston) The Boch Center will help thousands of children celebrate World Read Aloud Day on Wednesday, February 1 at 10:00 AM with New York Times Best-Selling Author Peter H. Reynolds. Reynolds will be reading his best seller, Happy Dreamer, to a crowd of more than 100 students from Chelsea and Boston Public Schools in the Boch Center Wang Theatre. The event will also be livestreamed to tens of thousands of students in nearly 500 schools internationally.

Founded in 2010, World Read Aloud Day celebrates the power of reading aloud to create community, amplify new stories and advocate for literacy as a foundational human right. World Read Aloud Day is a global movement of millions of readers, writers, and listeners from communities across the world coming together to honor the joy and power of reading and sharing stories and expand the definition and scope of global literacy.

Massachusetts based author Peter H. Reynolds is an accomplished storyteller and illustrator who has been acclaimed around the globe for his best-selling “stories for all ages” about protecting and nurturing the creative spirit, including the three books in his “Creatrilogy” - The Dot, Ish and Sky Color.

“Peter Reynolds has dedicated his life to educating and enriching the lives of children around the globe, and we are honored to partner with him for such an impactful event,” said Josiah Spaulding, President and CEO of the Boch Center. “We are proud to help Peter spread his messages of empowerment that also encourage children to explore their own creativity regardless of their skills.”  The reading will be followed by an interactive workshop led by the Boch Center Education Team as a part of their Interactive Readings: Stories Alive! Program.

While the world tells us to sit still, to follow the rules, and to color inside the lines, Happy Dreamer celebrates all those moments in between when the mind and spirit soar and children are free to become our own true dreamer maximus! In Reynold's signature voice and style, this empowering picture book reminds children of how much their dreams matter.  While life will have ups and downs, he enlists readers to stay true to who they are, to tap into their most creative inner selves, and to never ever forget to dream big!
