While practicing for the performance during advocacy, we went over do’s and dont’s respectively, with highly dramatized scenes of how to behave in front of legislators. As a teen this practice always made me laugh, as I never truly saw ‘the point’. As I've grown both inside and outside of this program, now I can see the beauty in how each of the teens conducted themselves with such grace and poise, and how that isn't a talent, but a skill. A skill that they had to develop within 7 days here in this space, which is truly incredible.

It was beautiful to witness the same experience of advocacy as both a participant, and ‘teacher’ of sorts. As a teen I was so self critical just as the current teens seem to be, but from my perspective now, the teens did an incredibly difficult thing… They have so much to be proud of and I couldn't be happier than to be here and support them in this journey.
